FAQ
Q1. How to check rabies antibodies?
A1. It is a serum neutralization (inhibition) test, which means it measures the ability of rabies specific antibodies to neutralize rabies virus and prevent the virus from infecting cells. These antibodies are called rabies virus neutralizing antibodies
Q2. How long does it take to develop rabies antibodies?
A2. Our data demonstrated that i) duration of immunity to rabies in vaccinated dogs extends beyond 3 years.
Q3. When to do rabies antibody test?
A3. The rabies titre test is generally performed 30 days after the administration of the rabies vaccine. Sometimes the test is administered earlier, but 30 days is the recommended waiting period for the antibodies to form.
Q4. How do rabies antibodies work?
A4. It works by giving your body the antibodies it needs to protect it against the rabies virus. This is called passive protection. This passive protection lasts long enough to protect your body until it can produce its own antibodies against the rabies virus.
Q5. Can a rabies test be wrong?
A5. The breakdown of rabies antigen due to degradation, regardless of the reason, can substantially decrease the antigenic material to which the antibody binds, possibly resulting in a false-negative result. In addition, the use of unverified biologics may result in false-negative results.
